The Deputy High Commissioner: Gary Leslie

Donation of specialist equipment to visually impaired children

On 11th March 2008 the British High Commission presented a consignment of specialist equipment to the visually impaired learners of the Windhoek Technical High School.  The 15 box consignment containing much sought after specialist IT software and hardware such as talking watches was donated by the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) of the United Kingdom in response to a request for assistance from the school's Principal, Mrs Landsberg.

The equipment was personally collected, packed and sent by Jamie Cuthbertson an RNIB volunteer from Glasgow who devoted a great deal of personal time and effort in ensuring the children received the equipment they needed.
