Our High Commissioner

High Commissioner

Mark Bensberg

I joined the Diplomatic Service in 1980 and have spent about half of my overseas career in Africa.

I’ve been accredited to British Embassies and High Commissions in Nigeria, Mozambique, Cameroon, Tanzania, Uganda, and Ethiopia during the 1980s, Ghana and Togo in the 1990s and until 2006 the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Congo (also known as Congo-Brazzaville). I also spent a short time at our High Commission in Freetown, Sierra Leone, in the first half of 2007.

So, against this background I’m delighted to be here in Namibia now and to welcome you to the website of the British High Commission, Windhoek.

We offer this website for everyone visiting or living in Namibia, whether members of the British community, Namibian officials, students, political leaders, media or anyone interested in finding out more about Britain.

Here you can find information about
  • travel to Britain, including visa services
  • travel advice and other consular services for British nationals, including passports and online consular registration
  • doing business with Britain
  • the UK’s development assistance programme
  • UK policy on African and global issues, including Climate Change
You’ll also find links to other websites to help you find out more about Britain. But if you don’t see what you’re looking for, please let us know so that we can try to find it for you, if we can.

Mark Bensberg
High Commissioner
